You see, belly fat, especially the kind that has accumulated to the point where it has become not only an eyesore, but a hindrance to the way you do things, is a real health risk. I am going to tell you why ignoring the problem could be one of the BIGGEST mistakes you will ever make, and then I am going to help you try to <a href="http://nickname.cyspabs.hop.clickbank.net/">flatten your tummy</a> by explaining how it managed to get away on you to begin with, and what can be done to reverse the sorry trend!

Most people will encounter a problem with belly fat sooner or later. For the guys, fat tends to accumulate around the midsection before it collects anywhere else. For the ladies it tend to go into their thighs and butt area, but it eventually makes its way onto their belly too. No one is immune to the slowing of their metabolism as they age and move into a more sedentary lifestyle. Eating the poor diet that most of us indulge in out of sheer convenience is another huge factor contributing to the "rise of the pot belly".

You may have thought that the accumulation of fat around your midsection is an inevitable consequence of aging, and that there is not a whole lot you can do about that other than to go onto a restrictive diet of some type to slim down. But this is not the case. There are TWO primary reasons for the accumulation of fat around the midsection. These are lack of physical activity, and poor eating habits. Now this information probably comes as not great surprise. But let's look at this again with a slightly more critical eye to see what is true that you might never have considered before.

The main reason that your metabolism slows down (the rate at which your body burns energy) is that when you get beyond the age of 25 years or so the demands of life tend to rob you of time for physical activity. Most of us end up behind a desk every day, and the most exercise we get is in the form of walking to the nearest food court for lunch. The result is that our bodies lose muscle mass over time - up to as much as perhaps 10 percent per decade. Now this would not be such a bad thing if it was not for the fact that muscle tissue is the main fat burning tissue in our bodies. The more we lose, the less excess fat can be burned from our body, and in particular from the belly area.

The good news is that adding physical activity to your routine can result in muscle growth, and therefore metabolic volume. The more muscle, the more quickly you burn off fat. Of course, to build muscle you need to engage in strenuous physical activity. Forget the cardio workout, the walking, and the swimming. Those activities may build your stamina and work off a little weight, but they will not build the kind of muscle that is needed to burn through the accumulation of fat that may be present around your midsection right now.

The other primary factor that contributes to abdominal fat gain is eating unhealthy foods. This is a big subject that can only be hinted at here. The bottom line is that most of the food we grab today on the go is processed food that has lost much of the nutritional content that it possessed before being carted into the food processing establishment that prepared it and packaged it for your local food store. Food today tends to contain too much sugar and that is the number one reason that we are fattening up so quickly. Sugar, in all of the various forms found in processed foods, is easily converted into fat in our bodies when we ingest more than we can use for immediate energy requirements.

The fat that builds in your midsection is bothersome. It nags at you from the mirror whenever you turn sideways in the bathroom. But it does not reveal its real cost to being a part of your body until much later when it effects ultimately send you to see your physician for what you think at first is an entirely unrelated problem. Because in reality, when you have an accumulation of fat at the midsection, you also have fat deep inside you that is wrapped around your vital organs and doing things you never suspected might be going on.

You see, fat is not as idle as you might suspect it to be. It secretes hormones and other chemicals that can upset the body's normal chemical balance and affect your health.

When excess body fat collects around the tummy rather than on the limbs, it should be regarded as a visual sign of possible hormonal and metabolic turmoil within you. And once that abdominal fat has increased to the point where it presents a hard rounded appearance, it is almost guaranteed that 'hormonal' imbalance is driving its growth.

In particular, this developing "pot belly" is generally due to the condition known as 'insulin resistance' which occurs when the body starts ignoring the blood sugar regulating hormone insulin which clears sugar from the blood. This condition is the precursor to the life-threatening disease known as diabetes. But there are a host of other conditions that can also develop when fat leeches its way into the body - hardening of the arteries, high blood pressure, and even cancer.

It is way easier to take care of your body before the problems build up than to have to scramble when a health crisis occurs, by which time it may be too late to repair the damage. So if you want to life a longer, healthier life, take measures to flatten your tummy while you can. Think of it this way, you are never going to be in a better position to take advantage of your (relative) youth to get this done than right now.

Why Is Belly Fat So Hard To Get Rid Of?

Sometimes it seems that our culture is obsessed with belly fat. The desire to <a href="http://nickname.cyspabs.hop.clickbank.net/">flatten your tummy</a> is at an all-time high. Unfortunately there is a very good reason for that. Today we part way with our lean midsection more quickly than at any other point in human history. It used to be the case that we could expect to be able to show off our bodies at beach parties, with little reservation, well into our twenties. When you look back at the photographic record of public life just 50 years ago you are hard pressed to find obese individuals loitering in the background. Today they are everywhere in the developed world. Fat is an epidemic that is literally engulfing us.

There is no mystery as to the cause. With the rise of the "age of information" chances are greater than ever today that we earn our living tapping a keyboard for the better part of the day. Then we follow that up with a horrible diet that you know is not good for you but which seems really convenient given how busy you are every day. Your high-carbohydrate, low-protein, low-fiber lifestyle might be killing you slowly, but it does have the one big advantage of being easy to implement - cheap, low-nutrition food is available at every turn and it gets you through the week.

So there is no mystery as to the "why" of your ever-fattening midsection. It is the cost of "easy passage" through your early life. Not having to think about what it is that you are eating is a real time saver!

But later on, when the abdominal fat accumulates to the point where it is hard to ignore, you realize you need to do something if there is any chance that the boss will look at you in enough of a positive light to be considered for promotion to that high-paying position freeing up just a few months from now. Sorry, but no one considers the fat guy or gal leadership material. The problem is, now that it is time to get rid of the fat you suddenly discover the task is harder than you imagined.

A lot harder. Part of the reason for this is that the abdomen is usually the first place for fat to appear, and the LAST place for it to disappear from. If you want to flatten your belly, you actually have to remove fat from your entire body to make some headway. For every pound you want to trim off your midsection you will likely need to remove another pound, or more, from the rest of your body.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as spot removal - which is the ability to remove fat from just one part of the body by exercising it more than other areas of your body. You cannot do 1000 crunches with the expectation that it will result in fat being burned off just your belly area because you used your abdominal muscles to get the job done. The only way to achieve spot reduction is by getting the fat sucked out of you, which is not recommended. Not only is it a painful procedure, but the fat eventually returns.

If you are wondering why it is that fat tends to go onto the midsection so easily for men it is probably due to evolutionary biology. Early man did a lot of running around looking for food, chasing it down for the kill. What little fat he did have on his body would have been most efficiently collected into the midsection so as to reduce as much as possible the energy expenditure needed to complete the chase and bring home the kill. With legs and arms pumping wildly, the one place you do NOT want to carry extra weight during a hunt is on the limbs. For women, on the other hand, excess weight in the midsection could lower the likelihood of carrying a pregnancy to completion. So women are more prone to adding their excess weight in the thigh and butt area. But eventually - typically beyond the optimal birthing years - women discover that fat accumulates in the belly too.

The important observation here is that it is around the hips, butt, and midsection that fat is most likely to appear if it is to be stored on your body, and that is also the last place it is likely to come off when you begin doing the right things to promote fat burning in your body. But once you DO know what it is that your body is doing when it comes to fat storage, it becomes a lot easier to take the correct actions to reverse the trend and give up the excess fat.

I Do Cardio Sessions - So Why Is My Belly Still Fat?

So you have been going to your gym for two years now, and you have religiously taken the aerobics classes and hit the treadmill every couple of days in an effort to <a href="http://nickname.cyspabs.hop.clickbank.net/">lose your belly fat</a> for good. The trouble is, it has NOT worked. You are not noticeably thinner now than when you began. In fact, you suspect that you might even have gained some weight around the midsection. Is that possible?

It sure is. Not only is it possible, it is likely. What most people fail to realize is that low-impact cardio exercise, which elevates the heart rate, is not the kind of exercise that promotes fat loss. In fact, this kind of "endurance" activity can have the opposite effect and instead of elevating your metabolism so that you burn more calories over the course of the day, cardio exercise will reduce your metabolism, making it easier than ever to add fat every time you eat more than your body requires for its immediate energy needs. We'll see why that might be in a moment.

In contrast to the light, stress-free form of exercising that characterizes the cardio session, strength training entails performing exercises that require a great deal of physical exertion in a fairly short amount of time. This kind of exercise stresses the body's muscles and stimulates them to grow so as to meet the challenge then next time they are called upon. The reason why this kind of activity promotes enhanced fat burning is that it is muscle tissue that is responsible for converting your excess body fat into energy for immediate use. The more muscle you carry on your frame, the more calories you will burn every day. A pound of muscle will burn from 2 to 5 times the number of calories that a pound of fat will burn.

Cardio, on the other hand, places no real demand on the muscles of the body. So there is no resultant muscle growth. Instead, people who are advised to do this form of exercise are often told to cut back on their calorie intake too. The idea is to shave off calories through energy expenditure from physical exercise, and shave off some more in the kitchen. But whenever you decrease your calorie intake beyond a certain point it triggers a response in the body - one that results in a lowering of the metabolism. When your body is fooled into believing that food is scarce it drops its energy expenditure (making you sluggish and feeling worn out) so that it can conserve every calorie that comes its way. This means that when you DO eat more food than you need for immediate energy requirements, the excess energy you have taken in quickly gets shunted into your fat cells. You body becomes primed for fat accumulation rather than fat burning.

So do yourself a favor and add some strength training to your workouts. Ideally, replace the long cardio sessions with short sessions of exercises that stimulate your entire body. For example, learn how to perform the dead lift. This is a movement in which a heavy barbell is raised from the floor to the level of your thighs, and then lowered again. Typically you may end up lifting more than your own body weight during each movement, and it will take all the muscles in your limbs and torso to move the barbell. There is probably no better movement to stimulate muscle growth in the entire body than the dead lift.

Next, consider adding squats to your routine. For safety reasons you will probably want to use a squat rack, particularly if you are loading a lot of weight onto your barbell. Squats are great for developing the leg muscles, which are the largest group of muscles in the human body. Between the squat and the dead lift you will be well on the way to elevating your metabolism for the best possible fat burning results.

The other great thing about these full body movements is that the intense training causes the body to keep burning fat well after the workout session is over. Between this effect, and the fact that added muscle will burn fat 24 hours a day, you ability to burn excess body fat is really a round the clock process when you integrate strength training into your gym sessions. Moreover, your sessions will be a great deal shorter too, allowing you to leave the gym early and get a lot more done with your day.

Because your efforts are now focused on muscle building and fat burning, you will find that your midsection begins shrinking as fat disappears from your entire body to be replaced by lean muscle tissue. This is the goal that you should be pursuing for improved health, not only for the short term, but the remainder of your life.

Can You Reduce Belly Fat With Fat Burning Meals?

The ONLY way to <a href="http://nickname.cyspabs.hop.clickbank.net/">shed belly fat</a> for good is by first devising a plan that involves removing fat from your entire body. Exercise is vital to accomplishing this goal. But so is a well thought out nutritional plan. You need to understand not only what you can eat that is healthy for you, but what you should eat WITH it.

Knowing which foods should be combined with which to create the healthiest possible meal is something most people give little consideration to when it comes to attacking their grocery shopping for the week. Too often we get sidetracked with the food labels and we forget the larger picture. If you want to eat healthy, and eat for fat loss, you need to understand how to COMBINE foods for the best results. When you do, fat loss will become much easier, you won't have to give up too much in the overall AMOUNT of food you eat, and your waistline will reap the benefits as well.

At first, it might seem strange that HOW you combine the foods you eat might have some bearing on whether or not you lose weight. But once you understand what is going on to cause you to gain weight in the first place, it is very easy to see how this works. Better yet, once you understand the principles involved you will be able to see how to approach your meal preparation so that nearly every meal you create is one that promotes fat loss.

The cause of weight (fat) gain for most people is sugar. More specifically, blood sugar - which is the form that carbohydrates take when they are broken down by the body and digested into the blood stream. Every time we eat it only takes minutes before our blood begins to circulate the digested sugar to the remote parts of our body. We use this sugar for immediate energy needs, and if we have a surplus of it in the blood our body generates insulin to remove it from the blood and store it as fat for later consumption. The more "sugary" the foods we eat, the more blood glucose we generate, and the fatter we become. Foods rich in simple carbohydrates (which are quickly and easily broken down into blood glucose) are very effective at causing us to gain excess pounds of fat. So be cautious when it comes to snacking between meals. That donut or that slice of cake is high in the simple carbs that cause easy weight gain.

The way to mute the rapid digestion of foods that have a high composition of simple carbohydrates is to mix them foods that do not. In particular, protein is an excellent food group to use for this. Protein is rich in amino acids which are used by the body to repair damaged tissue and to build the cellular machinery that keeps your body doing the myriad things it needs to do to sustain itself. Foods high in protein include fish and eggs, and the increasingly popular protein powders, such as whey.

Protein is relatively difficult to break down and digest, compared to carbohydrates, so when you mix a large portion of protein with the carbohydrates you are consuming you slow down the overall conversion of food into blood glucose. Instead of the large spike in blood sugar that takes place when a sugar donut, or even a bagel, is eaten alone, a bagel that is stuffed with salmon or cream cheese is going to take longer to digest and blood sugar levels will be more steady, rising more slowly, not rising so high, and not crashing down again to make you ravenously hungry again before it is time for your next meal.

In fact, by eating small meals of about 300-400 calories, spaced about 3 hours apart, and rich in protein, you can keep your blood sugar level relatively stable throughout the entire day. Because of this there are no spikes in insulin and much less conversion of blood glucose into fat. In this sense, protein-rich meals are fat burning meals.

This is not the full story, of course. It requires a fair bit of work to figure out which are the best sources of protein to combine with carbohydrates and fats to create tasty meals that don't make you feel that you are constantly on some kind of weird diet. Fortunately, others have done the hard work for us and come up with instructional manuals on how to prepare these meals that get us onto the fast track for fat burning and a flatter tummy than we are carrying around at present.

Is My Job Stress Making My Belly Fatter?

Sitting at a desk all day is a great way to accumulate more belly fat. No surprise there. But what you might not have considered before is how the stress of your job might be contributing to the problem. If you want to <a href="http://nickname.cyspabs.hop.clickbank.net/">trim your midsection</a> consider firing that hot head of a boss you have and take up meditation to reduce the level of stress in your life.

I am serious. Stress has some side effects that are not well appreciated. One of them is that the hormone cortisol is generated in response to stress, and this hormone promotes the storage of fat in the abdominal area. This may seem like strange bodily response, and a particularly unhealthy one given that we tend to find ourselves in high-stress situations all the time when we are interacting with people whose response to us can determine whether or not we get paid next month.

But from an evolutionary point of view it is not hard to see why we might have developed the cortisol response over time. Long ago, when one of the major causes of stress was the prospect of starving to death (something that we rarely face today in the developed world) it actually made sense for the body to release cortisol and start accumulating fat whenever more food had been eaten than was needed for immediate energy needs. This way energy reserves would be on hand if the "impending famine" developed into a full-scale threat.

The trouble with this evolutionary adaption is that today when we get stressed out it is incredibly easy to find "comfort foods" to take the edge off the way we are feeling. Has the boss just handed you a project on Friday afternoon and hinted that it would be appreciated if it could be completed by Monday morning? No problem. You'll curry favor by eating 12 chocolate bars and consuming twice that number of cups of coffee as you pull a weekender cursing him under your breath and telling yourself that stress builds character. But all it really builds is your waistline. Now this may be an exaggerated scenario, but you get the point.

In the past, the urge to eat in response to stress might have worked in your favor. Particularly if the cause of that stress was a looming absence of food in your life. But today, when foods loaded with empty calories (high on sugar, low on nutrition) are always within reach, the response to eat to make yourself feel better works against you. Foods high in sugar content will give you a temporary feeling of satisfaction, but your body will not be able to use all of the sugar that floods into your blood stream. So your body mops up the excess by converting it into fat which it stores away for that "rainy day" that it believes to be coming. After all, cortisol levels are high, so there must be a famine on the horizon...

If you want to avoid the waistline-swelling effects that stress tends to bring about you need to learn how to manage the stresses in your life. Sometimes the solution is obvious. If you spend time with someone who constantly complains about their life you are probably sacrificing your own physical health to shore up their mental health (by allowing them an out for their frustrations). Go out of your way to spend less time with these people.

If your job is high stress, try to identify what the main causes of stress are due to and look for a way to change the situation. If you cannot, consider looking for a new job. The rewards of a job rarely ever exceed the loss of health that follows a prolonged period of stress. If you colleagues don't appreciate your worth, find a new group of people to work with. Too often we fall into whatever work environment is prepared to accept us and we stick with it even when we discover we hate what is going on within the company and the way it makes us feel. When that day arrives, look around for the escape pod. It is time to get out.

Take a yoga class if your body does not object to being twisted into odd postures. The goal here is to get rid of stress and put your mind right with the universe. That happens to be exactly the goal you want to achieve. You can also just cut more time out for yourself and plow into a great book that transports you out of yourself. Or take up a hobby that allows you to become obsessed with something which pays off in hour after hour of pure enjoyment.

Wherever possible, look for the path that provides less stress in your life. You will not be able to remove it all, but most of us endure a lot more stress than needs be the case. We pay for it in deteriorating health and expanding waistlines. So if you are sick of looking at that unsightly bulge of fat above your belt line, identify the sources of stress in your life and get rid of them.

Are you losing the war with belly fat?

Today I'm going to bring up a subject that a lot of us think about more than we care to admit, but don't discuss all that much in public. Why? Because it's crying shame, that's why. But I am going to be brave and reveal the truth about...

Belly fat. I begin giving this a little thought when I came across Carolyn Hansen's new book "Claim Your Six Pack Abs":

OK, back to the subject - belly fat. You know what I am talking about. Particularly if you have left behind that merry decade known as your thirties. In that case you are likely to have a very good idea of what I am talking about when I bring up the "battle of the bulge".

It is the never-ending war we wage with belly fat. I think the men generally have to deal with this assault on their midsection before the ladies, who see the extra fat on their body start to accumulate first in their thighs and butt. But we all have to deal with encroaching belly fat sooner or later.

The problem seems to be that as we move away from of our optimal years for reproduction, and well after the point at which we have ceased to grow in stature, we begin to lose muscle mass. Not fast. Maybe at a rate of about a percent every year, but it adds up, and after each passing decade we are down a few pounds in muscle tissue. Mostly this is due to lack of physical activity as we get older (I'm stuck behind a computer monitor for a good fraction of my day - how about you?), and also because the diet we subject ourselves to is generally low on protein, which is the necessary ingredient for any body that is going to properly maintain itself for the long term.

Now, it turns out - and I did not appreciate this until now - that muscle is the primary means by which fat is burned in the body. The more muscle you have, the higher your body's energy requirement to get through each day. So unless you are constantly filling up on poor quality food (and there is a very large number of people who do just that) your body is going to tap into the excess fat reserves to supply the muscle tissue with all the energy it needs to function properly.

Muscle requires about 2 to 5 times the amount of energy as does an equivalent mass of fat. A pound of muscle burns up to about 30 calories of energy each day. So if you carry 5 pounds of muscle, rather than 5 pounds of fat, you can burn up to an extra 80-120 calories a day compared to what you would burn if those 5 pounds were just fat that had accumulated around your midsection.

That might not sound like much, just another 100 or so calories burned each day, but a pound of fat carries about 3500 calories of energy, so you will be burning off an extra pound of fat a month. And this is just because you are carrying that extra muscle on your body. If you put it to work in the gym, as you are likely to do if you want to maintain it, then you will be burning even more energy over the course of the day. Perhaps a lot more.

The point is that diet alone is not the answer to getting rid of the belly fat and maintaining a trim midsection. If you want to look good for the long term you need to add muscle to your frame and let it do it's job of gobbling up the fat. But before you hit the gym again and head straight for the treadmill, or into the aerobics class, think about doing some strength training instead to build muscle. According to Carolyn Hansen, you can pretty much forget about any cardio activity if you real goal is to lose weight (fat) at a reasonable rate. It is far more of a time waster than a fat reducer in her opinion.

Hey, who doesn't want a flatter tummy? I sure do. But like most people I have been resigned to viewing it as a luxury of life that I have neither the time for, nor the will to make happen.

Part of the reason I had come to think this way was because I have tried various diets and found that the little gains I have made (lost pounds on the bathroom scales) do not stick around long enough for me to think the effort I put in was worthwhile.

Carolyn says that diets flat out do not work to strip away fat from the midsection. At least not permanently, and I tend to think she may be right. She says that diets actually do more harm than good to the dieter because when you restrict the number of calories significantly then your body is inadvertently tricked into thinking it is entering one of those periods of famine that were so common for our ancestor way, way in the past. Back then it was a useful biological tactic to drop the body's metabolism when faced with the threat of a food shortage. A lowered metabolism means that the body tries to conserve its existing fuel (fat) stores and get by on less energy.

So what happens? You feel sluggish and worn out all day and your fat burning goes WAY down. That's actually EXACTLY how all those crappy diets I have tried in the past made me feel. So if dieting is not the answer, what is the correct thing to do to get rid of the excess pounds?

Eat smaller meals, and more of them. That's what Carolyn says in her book. The best way to keep your metabolism elevated for maximum fat burning is to adopt the "grazing" pattern of approaching your meals. You eat just enough to ward off hunger, and you do it more often. That's the way grazing herds do it. Sounds a little counter-intuitive, eat more often to lose weight, but it has a certain logic about it.

When your body is never hungry (because you never let it get to that stage) you don't end up overeating at any one meal. When you do this you avoid flooding your body with blood sugar, which in excess just gets converted into body fat. If you are only eating to meet your immediate energy needs, which is what the grazing method is all about, you stay in the fat burning, rather than fat storage mode.

So you end up burning more calories over the course of the day. More than you would if you ate 3 or fewer larger meals, which is what most people are trained to do from childhood. Instead, the way you approach meals according to "Claim Your Six Pack Abs" is that you eat 5 or 6 smaller meals of around 300-400 calories each. It's an appealing way to go about getting rid of that fat around the midsection, because in reality you are taking off fat from ALL OVER the body whenever you are in the fat burning mode.

This is an approach to eating that I'd not come across before, so I am pretty excited to try it out, and I thought you might be too. But I would be leading you astray if you thought that was all there is to it. Changing your meal size and the frequency of your eating schedule is very important for this to work, but so too is the composition of the meals. It turns out that there is a very good reason your mother insisted you eat your vegetables and do your best to eat all of the pot roast she put in front of you.

Protein and vegetables are the key ingredients in any fat burning blueprint for meal preparation. Protein is actually fairly difficult for the body to break down, so your body has to expend a good deal more energy on doing that than would be the case if you were simply eating a food composed of mostly simple carbohydrates (like potatoes, bread, and pasta). When you mix protein with carbohydrates in a meal it slows down the overall digestion and ensures that your blood sugar does not rise too quickly or too high.

This is important, because high blood sugar triggers the body's insulin response which converts the excess in blood sugar into body fat.

Even better results are achieved when you restrict your carb intake to mostly complex carbohydrates (leafy vegetables, mainly) because this form of carbohydrate is much harder to break down into blood sugar than the other "simple" carbohydrate form. When you mix protein with complex carbs in a meal you get the best of all worlds: building blocks in the form of amino acids from the protein to repair damaged tissue in your body, energy from the complex carbs, and a slowed and controlled blood sugar response that promotes fat burning rather than fat storage.

Are six pack abs even possible today?

Somewhere in the vague recesses of my mind I remember abdominal muscles. I actually remember being able to tense my midsection and see the ripple of muscle that people lovingly call the "six pack".

Now this is not because I did anything special back then to bring out these muscles. As kids we all possessed our version of the six pack, regardless of the fact that we did nothing more than run around like every other kid on the block and toss imaginary grenades into each others backyards. We were able to see our abdominal muscles simply because we did not carry around much in the way of fat that might have covered them up.

Well, those days are long gone. The thing that got me thinking about all this is a fitness title I recently came across from ex-bodybuilder Carolyn Hansen, called "Claim Your Six Pack Abs":

She reminded me of the fact that even though my midsection may be uncomfortably smooth these days, my abdominal muscles are still in there somewhere. Maybe they have atrophied some since the last time I laid eyes on them, but they are in there. If I want to see them again the thing I need to do is peel away the layer of fat that has presented something of an eyesore for more time than I care to admit.

The question is, what exactly is involved in seeing that through to completion, and why would I want to do that? Let's start with the second question first, because without the motivation to put a plan into effect, nothing is going to happen.

As Carolyn points out in here book, there are two main reasons you might want to reunite with the six pack. If you are young and stupid (well that's how I see youth now from the vantage point of mid age) you might want to impress the opposite sex with your flat tummy every time you take off your shirt, or just be able to tuck in that shirt without involving any stretching of fabric. It's hard to deny that when it comes to sexual attraction, a flat tummy is a great opening piece in your arsenal of persuasion.

The other reason to want to flatten the belly area, and the one that interests me more now, involves your health. It is a sad fact of life, but fat and old age do not mix well. You either learn how to slim down by the time you get to your fifties or sixties, or you are not going to be sticking around for much longer. Try to think of the last time you saw an old person who was fat. Trust me, they are rare!

So I guess I am greedy, but I want to experience as much of this thing we call "life" as I possibly can. Hell, if I knew exactly what it would take to stick around for another hundred years I would be on that train to super-longevity before you had time to finish reading this sentence. My guess you probably feel the same way, which is why I am addressing this issue of belly fat and how to get rid of it.

It won't surprise you to learn that the answer involves eating the right foods and doing exercise of some sort. If that does surprise you, and you were hoping for one of those miracle pills that you'll find advertised late at night on the local junk television channel, then you are out of luck. A lot of people chase these "wonder supplements" in an attempt to outsmart time and biology, but in the end they pay the price, and I am not interested in ending up in their shoes.

Nor, hopefully, are you. I can't hope to tell you too much about what Carolyn Hansen has to say about all of this in her book, not in this short message, but I did want to let you know that she is pretty convincing in her pitch about why you want to get started on exorcising the belly fat demon in your life. Once you learn how the fat at your midsection really penetrates deep into your body, wraps itself around the major organs, and then goes to work destabilizing your health, you won't find too much problem with her characterization of belly fat as a demon.

Anyway, the good news is that she has some very solid ideas about how to go about eating and exercising to get rid of belly fat. It is not simply enough to know that you need to do both, and to go and do them. That would be like telling someone that if you want to be rich, go out and be successful at a business that affects everyone so that you can tap into their wealth. You simply cannot succeed with "obvious" advice. You need a plan of action that reveals the non-commonsense approaches that really work to get the job done. That's what she delivers in "Claim Your Six Pack Abs":

So if you want to live a long and healthy life because you are getting toward to the age when that stuff starts to weight on your mind, or you simply want to reconnect with your six pack to impress the opposite sex, get her book and find out how to flatten your belly. It won't happen overnight. That much I can see right off the bat, but the ideas presented in the book are great and I expect real success for those who put the ideas into action.
